E-motor design for Steer-by-wire system
Steer-by-wire technology is a cutting-edge innovation in automotive systems, aiming to replace traditional mechanical steering mechanisms with electronic controls. One of the critical components in a steer-by-wire system is the electromotor (e-motor), which plays a central role in achieving precise and reliable steering control.
Objectives: This project focuses on designing and developing an advanced electromotor system tailored for steer-by-wire applications.
- Understand Steer-by-Wire technology and create an in-depth exploration of the e-motors used for steering systems.
- Design concepts of an electromotor system that is optimized for steer-by-wire applications. Consider various aspects, like power consumption, precision, cost, and safety.
- Perform simulations (e.g. FEM, system simulation) and calculations to support the selection of the most suitable solution.
- Implement safety measures and redundancy mechanisms to ensure fail-safe operation, particularly in critical situations.
- Cooperate with experts of the field and with the development team.
- Document the electromotor system's design, architecture and analysis results.
